The Michael DeVoll Award of Excellence in Counseling

Purpose:

 To honor a counselor who demonstrates exemplary professional excellence, leadership, and advocacy within

 the Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Gender Expression (SOGIE) community. This award extends the

 legacy of Michael DeVoll, a founding leader of TxSAIGE and past president of the Texas Counseling

 Association. Michael was a dedicated advocate, educator, and leader who championed LGBTQIA+ issues

 through his work with queer youth, parent groups, and legislative advocacy. The criteria for the award is as follows:   

  • The nominee must be a current TCA member.
  • Any TCA member may submit a nomination for this award.
  • Nominations must include supporting documentation that demonstrates the nominee’s contributions to the LGBTQIA+ counseling community. 
  • Nominations should highlight examples of professional achievement and personal dedication that reflect the spirit of Michael DeVoll’s work.
  • Nominations must be received by the TCA office no later than August 1 of each calendar year.

 This award is presented annually at the TCA Annual Professional Growth Conference.
